Look for this change to 2023 Wellcare Medicare ID cards

We’d like to make our Wellcare providers aware of an important change to members’ Medicare ID cards:

Our new member ID cards no longer list the plan year. Instead, the 2023 ID cards list Card Effective Date — the date the member’s coverage started — in the top section of the ID card.

Please Note: Card Effective Date is not equivalent to the plan year listed on the 2022 ID cards. It is the date the member’s current coverage period began.

  • Existing members using the same plan in 2023 will be issued a replacement ID card with an effective date in the past.
  • Existing members rolled into a new plan in 2023 will be issued a replacement ID card with an effective date set this year.
  • New members’ effective date will be set this year.
