Well Child Visits
Wellness visits are general checkups with your child’s primary care provider (PCP). They are different than sick visits or visits with a specialist. They are also called Well Child Visits.
Everyone 3 years and older should have a wellness visit once a year. Younger children need to see the doctor more often. Here’s a full schedule to follow:
- Birth
- 3-5 days
- By 1 month
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
- 30 months
At a wellness visit, the doctor may:
- Check your child’s growth and development
- Ask about your child’s mental health
- Offer routine childhood vaccines
At a wellness visit, you can:
- Ask any questions you have about your child’s health and care
- Share any concerns you have about your child’s behavior, eating habits or sleeping pattern
- Talk about your child’s social development and behavior
Remember: Your child can earn cash rewards for going to a wellness visit each year, getting certain vaccines and other healthy activities. You can use the money to pay for bills, groceries, childcare and more.
