Well Child Visits

Wellness visits are general checkups with your child’s primary care provider (PCP). They are different than sick visits or visits with a specialist. They are also called Well Child Visits.

Everyone 3 years and older should have a wellness visit once a year. Younger children need to see the doctor more often. Here’s a full schedule to follow:

  • Birth
  • 3-5 days
  • By 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 30 months

At a wellness visit, the doctor may:

  • Check your child’s growth and development
  • Ask about your child’s mental health
  • Offer routine childhood vaccines

At a wellness visit, you can:

  • Ask any questions you have about your child’s health and care
  • Share any concerns you have about your child’s behavior, eating habits or sleeping pattern
  • Talk about your child’s social development and behavior

Remember: Your child can earn cash rewards for going to a wellness visit each year, getting certain vaccines and other healthy activities. You can use the money to pay for bills, groceries, childcare and more.
