Sunshine Health to continue covering audio-only telemedicine

Sunshine Heath members can continue to receive audio-only telemedicine services.

Florida Medicaid stopped covering audio-only telemedicine services as of May 11 due to the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration. The Florida Legislature recently passed a law that makes audio-only services a permanent option — but it doesn’t take effect until July 1.

Sunshine Health will ensure there is no interruption in audio-only telemedicine services for members. Providers can continue billing for audio-only telehealth and claims will be processed.

Sunshine Health is committed to helping you deliver the best possible care to your patients, our members. Many have come to rely on telehealth to remotely access medical services, and Sunshine Health wants to make sure members and providers keep that option.
