Date: 02/17/23

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Ambetter from Sunshine Health and the Miami Dolphins came together to address food insecurity in  South Florida and serve warm meals to local families and individuals in need on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023.

Ambetter team members load food into vehicles during the event.

Several volunteers from both organizations served over 400 hot meals from Miami Dolphins minority-owned restaurant partner Arline’s Restaurant & Seafood to local community members in need during Wednesday’s food relief event at Mount Pisgah Seventh Day Adventist Church in Miami Gardens.

“We are appreciative of this collaborative effort with Ambetter in our continued effort to support and uplift our local minority-owned business, community groups and residents of Miami Gardens,” said RaShauna Hamilton, Miami Dolphins Senior Director of Community Relations and Youth Programs.

Food insecurity is a crucial social determinant of health (SDoH) and is associated with poor health outcomes and higher odds of chronic and mental illness – issues that Ambetter from Sunshine Health and the Miami Dolphins are aiming to address through their collaboration with community outreach and events.

“Having access to healthy food is a key part of overall health, and we’re proud to team up with the Miami Dolphins to help Floridians live healthier lives,” said Nathan Landsbaum, CEO, Sunshine Health. “We are grateful for this opportunity to support the South Florida community.”
