End of School Year Checklist

Help your child wrap up the school year right with these tips from Children’s Medical Services Health Plan. A good end to this year will set them up for a great start to the next.

✓  Touch base with school contacts

  • Check in with your child’s teacher
  • Talk with others who have worked with your child at school
  • Review your child’s educational plans with their school team, revise if needed
  • Discuss transition plans for students entering middle or high school

✓  Check the parent portal

  • Check each child’s profile
  •  Look at grades and other records
  • Pay any fees
  • Update personal information as needed

✓  Organize your notebook

Save important school records in one place. Some examples:

  • Report cards
  • Progress reports
  • IEP or 504 plan
  • Behavior incidents, like referrals, suspensions and detention slips
  • Meeting notes
  • Emails and notes on phone calls
  • FAST report (Florida Assessment for Student Thinking)

  • Sign up for online learning
  • Get a library card
  • Order prep books
  • Explore summer camps and activities

✓  Stay plugged in

  • Save the school’s phone number
  • Check voicemail and email regularly
  • Save the school district’s phone number
  • Keep notifications on for school communication apps 

✓  Follow on the web

  • Follow the school’s Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Follow the school district’s Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Bookmark important web pages on your phone or computer
  • Visit all pages often for important events and announcements
