Becoming a new parent can be tough. For many new mothers and fathers, it can be difficult to access the resources needed to ensure a healthy birth, baby care supplies and postpartum care for the new mother and baby. We get it, and we’re here to help.

Sunshine Health offers benefits and services to get you through the pregnancy (prenatal) and newborn (postpartum) phases. You can visit our Start Smart For Your Baby ® website for more information and advice as you navigate your pregnancy and life with a new baby.      

Newborn Services

We understand that this can be both an exciting and overwhelming time. You can’t take care of your baby if you don’t also care for yourself. It is recommended that you see your doctor with seven to 30 days after having your baby to make sure you are healing well.

As a Sunshine Health member, you have access to postpartum benefits and services that will support the health of you and your newborn baby. State Medicaid coverage allows women to keep Medicaid for 12 months after giving birth.

Sunshine Health also has a dedicated First Year of Life Program to support you through your infant’s first fifteen months of life.
